The man within the hard hat asked , "Can you come down for a minute?" He looked like a gentleman of authority so I obliged. I reached the ground from the 2nd degree from the scaffold from exactly where I used to be pulling our network cable in about 10 seconds. The "man" said ," Can I see your 4 hour scaffold consumer card?" "Huh?" I believe was my reaction. The OSHA inspector repeated, " Can I see your 4 hour scaffold person card?"
Clearly I didn't have one to show. He took a few notes and we were banned from working with the scaffold until we had licensed guys on board. The adhering to day we received a hefty great in the NYC DOB. We scrambled to put with each other a 4 Hour Supported Scaffold Consumer class. The class happened three days later and five techs were licensed. This was back again in 2009. The cards are good for four several years when they will need to be renewed. Who knows, by then the guidelines might be diverse. Possibly we’ll have to have 10 or 12 several hours!
Not OSHA Authorized
You might be not permitted on the scaffold in NYC with out a four Hour Supported Scaffold User Card. Additionally you cannot construct a scaffold over 40’ without a 32 hour course on erecting/dismantling scaffold. Security is large in today’s building planet and for superior cause. Would you want to get on the 50’ tall scaffold after an individual built it that had little or no training on tips on how to assemble it? No Thank you!
Climate or not you are a enthusiast get your people educated. It is for their very own security & piece of mind for you and your team. The link below is a list of approved supported scaffold coaching providers for NYC.

I am an advocate of Safety on building sites, no doubt. I heard eventually there will be a class on the best way to operate a ladder! If you can’t operate a ladder you should probably be baking cookies or sitting behind a desk(respect both jobs) but definitely not roaming a building site.
I would love to hear from network cabling or building professionals from across the US to see what the pointers are inside the other states.
